Last chance for participants of the 2nd international call for essays and audiovisual presentations

This call is still open and invites you to submit essays and audiovisuals in order to display, analyze and interpret the national bicentennial commemorations in Latin America. Until May 31, 2010 you have time to participate!
The record, interpretation and chronicle of the many activities that take place in these bicentennials, are ways to participate in them and take part in the transformation of the current reality of Latin America.
The objective of this call is to join efforts to understand how the bicentennial commemorations are affected by the important current economic, political and social processes, and how, at the same time, the Bicentennial affect these processes.
The prize for the winners will be: 1) Travel and participation to an international conference that will be held in 2011 in Mexico and 2) Inclusion in the book Bicentenarios en Acción.
In order to participate, send an abstract of maximum 300 words before May 31 (in Spanish, Portuguese or English), together with the Application form to bicentenarios.fadu.uba@gmail.com, cc. ola@newschool.edu.
All final submissions (papers and audiovisual presentations) should be received by November 1st, 2010.
International Conference of the 2nd Call for Essays and Audiovisual Presentations
Mexico in 2011
At the International Conference, to be held mid-2011 in Mexico, the five award winners will present their work to a qualified academic panel from several countries in the region. These and those presented with honorable mentions will be included in the forthcoming book, Bicentenarios en Acción.
Unlike the 1st International Call, which included comparisons with the Centennial Commemorations in Latin American, this Call focuses only on the Bicentennials.
