ABOUT THE OLA

The Observatory on Latin America (OLA) fosters public debate about the processes of social reform occurring in the western hemisphere. A majority of this work is done through its ongoing programs: Latin America on the Move, Design and Development, New Urban PracticesConflicts in the Digital Space, 2084 Imagined Futures, and the Cuba Program.

OLA’s main objectives are the following:

  • To improve academic and public understanding of Latin America about the processes of political and economic change underway in the region.
  • To foster a public dialogue between the United States and Latin America by creating opportunities for Latin American leaders to directly express their views to audiences in the United States.
  • To develop research platforms about the implementation of urban policies and new urban practices in the region.
  • To collaborate with Latin American institutions to promote the exchange of research, practices, and ideas, in line with our objectives.

OLA is housed at the Studley Graduate Programs in International Affairs in the Schools of Public Engagement.
