ONLINE: Futures of the Past · First Panel Discussion


The panelists will address the futures of the past from very different sources: popular imaginations of Buenos Aires at the beginning of the 20th century reflected in illustrated magazines, contrasted with the imaginations of experts in urban planning; the conception of space-time in Quechua culture and how this questions linear views of time; and, in a shift in focus, the reimagining of the early 21st century from hypothetical interviews conducted in 2066.

A public conversation between young Argentine imagineers and relevant personalities from Colombia. An exchange of experiences, desires, illusions and fears that arose at the moment of capturing what the authors felt, lived, dreamed or feared on their imaginary journey to 2084, following an itinerary based on the "Skins" by the artist Hundertwasser.

Many historical accounts of the Spanish conquest of the Americas depict this as the clash of different cultures. Professor Ibáñez will further deepen this characterization by using as an entry point the matter of temporalities, looking specifically at the high Andean region of South America.
