On March 27th, the Policy, Design, and Development Working Paper Series, in collaboration with the Observatory on Latin America, offered a seminar featuring Elisabeth Stevens on “Fighting U.S. Blockade Policy on Cuba: Strategy for Today’s Climate”.

Elisabeth Stevens of Americans for Common Sense on Cuba delivered a presentation on efforts to oppose the U.S. blockade of Cuba in the context of today’s political climate. She was joined by Gabriel Vignoli of The New School’s International Field Program in Cuba, who offered insights from the Cuban perspective. The conversation explored the wide-reaching consequences of the blockade—not only for Cubans, but also for Americans who are denied access to Cuba’s innovations. Both speakers highlighted the challenges and possibilities involved in confronting the blockade and building a more humane and constructive relationship between the U.S. and Cuba.
