Frederico Poley, our visiting fellow for the last few months, is a professor in the Public Management Program within the Department of Political Science at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) and a researcher at Fundação João Pinheiro, where he has coordinated the calculation of Brazil’s housing deficit index; both in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

During his semester as a visiting scholar at OLA/The New School, he engaged in a wide range of academic seminars across the university, connecting with specialists, faculty members, and graduate students. This period also allowed him to experience New York City and the United States for the first time.

His time at the OLA enabled him to develop and complete two research papers/articles on housing and urban public policies in Brazil and Latin America, presenting one at an internal seminar.

From our Visiting Fellow, Frederico Poley:

I am a professor in the Public Management Program within the Department of Political Science at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) and a researcher at Fundação João Pinheiro, where I have coordinated the calculation of Brazil’s housing deficit index; both in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

During my semester as a visiting scholar at OLA/The New School, I engaged in a wide range of academic seminars across the university, connecting with esteemed specialists, faculty members, and graduate students. This period also allowed me to experience New York City and the United States for the first time. Furthermore, I benefited from exceptional academic resources, including papers, books, and reports, supported by the OLA and an outstanding library consulting system and staff.

This enriching environment enabled me to develop and complete two research papers/articles on housing and urban public policies in Brazil and Latin America, presenting one at an internal seminar. My tenure at OLA and The New School was highly productive, and I am deeply grateful for this transformative personal and professional opportunity.
