The Observatory on Latin America is currently engaged with the Instituto de la Vivienda de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (IVC), the municipal organization in charge of housing policy in the city. The broad objective of this project is to contribute to the transformation of urban practice in Buenos Aires contribution to socio-economic, urban and housing dimensions.
The three main components of the project are:
- a monitoring and evaluation system for slum upgrading including specific indicators and data collection procedures;
- a qualitative analysis of IVC’s institutional infrastructure and its effects on neighborhood upgrading projects, and
- an analysis of the quantitative and qualitative data collected drawing conclusions on the development of the four neighborhoods under study.
