President Néstor Kirchner 2013-2014 Fellows, completed their stay in New York with a Public Lecture at The New School, where they presented their works related to policies for social inclusion.
María Villa (Colombia) and Fernando Kleiman (Brazil), spent two weeks in the U.S. city where they held seminars with professors and graduate students, as well as interviews with experts and academics. They also visited institutions related to their areas of study: art and mediation, in the case of Villa, and work and economy, in the case of Kleiman. Before a packed audience, they exposed their work in the framework of the conference “Policy and Practice for Inclusion: Brazil and Colombia”.
Margarita Gutman, director of President Néstor Kirchner Fellowship by the New School, introduced the David Scobey, Executive Dean of The New School, who stressed the importance of the fellowship within the university and the region.
The Consul of Brazil in New York, Ana Cabral, presented Kleiman’s lecture. The economist and special advisor to the Minister of Social Development and Fight against Hunger of Brazil, spoke about “Productive Inclusion: Decent work as a right and not an obligation”, reflecting his experience working in the government of his country.
After the words of the Colombian Consul in New York, Elsa Cifuentes, Villa presented her work on the mediations between contemporary art and different audiences in Bogotá. “Meaningful Experiences and Art Mediation Research Laboratories” deepened on Villa’s projects. The philosopher and editor of art, performed an attempt to encourage active and meaningful interpretation of art, surpassing the gap with its viewers.
The event concluded with a dialogue between the exponents and the audience.
